This Physics Wallah Teacher Lost ₹45 Lakhs in Trading
-----------------------------------------------------

### **What happens when a teacher who motivates thousands of students to never give up starts losing control of his own financial life?**

This is the story of **Santosh, a Physics faculty member from Dehradun associated with Physics Wallah**, as described in the interview *Bazaar Ke Haare*.

He began his financial journey with relatively disciplined investing. He researched crypto projects, invested a portion of his salary and gradually built a portfolio.

At one point, he says his portfolio reached around **₹16 lakh**.

But the crypto crash brought that portfolio down dramatically.

Instead of accepting the loss and moving forward, Santosh says he became focused on **recovering the money**.

That decision eventually took him from investing into leveraged F&O trading.

The consequences were devastating.

He describes losing his capital, taking loans, trading based on Telegram information and eventually suffering a **₹27 lakh loss in a single day**. He says his overall financial losses eventually reached approximately **₹45 lakh**.

But the biggest damage wasn't only financial.

It affected his health, career plans, relationships and mental well-being.

From Teacher to Investor
========================

Santosh says he started his teaching career around **2017**.

At the same time, he became interested in cryptocurrency.

Unlike someone simply following random tips, he initially tried to understand the projects behind different cryptocurrencies.

He researched questions such as:

- What does the project do?
- Is it related to gaming?
- Is it connected to AI?
- What blockchain does it use?
- What is the background of the project?
He says he invested approximately **10–20% of his salary** from time to time.

For several years, this was closer to investing than active trading.

He wasn't trying to make money every day.

He was investing gradually.

The Crypto Crash
================

Then the market crashed.

Santosh says that his portfolio, which had reached approximately **₹16 lakh**, eventually fell to around **₹2 lakh** during the severe crypto downturn.

Imagine watching years of savings decline by such a huge percentage.

Yet initially, he didn't panic.

His thinking was:

**"If it doesn't increase today, it will increase tomorrow."**

He believed crypto had a long-term future.

But there was another problem.

A substantial amount of his money became stuck on a crypto platform that he says stopped allowing withdrawals.

He describes having significant funds on the platform and spending considerable time following developments and legal proceedings related to the situation.

This changed his psychology.

The money wasn't simply falling in value anymore.

**He felt that his money was trapped.**

And that created the need to recover it.

---

The Biggest Mistake: Trying to Recover the Loss
===============================================

Santosh says this was the point where he made the biggest mistake of his financial life.

Instead of continuing with a long-term investment approach, he turned toward **F&O and leverage**.

The problem?

He says he didn't even properly understand how F&O worked.

He didn't know how to operate the platform properly.

He didn't understand leverage in depth.

Yet he took leverage of approximately **40x**, followed by **50x**.

His first trade worked.

And that success created a dangerous belief:

**"I understand this."**

That first successful trade made him believe he could use F&O to recover his crypto losses.

---

From ₹10 Lakh Savings to ₹16 Lakh—and Then the Fall
===================================================

Santosh says his original crypto investment was around **₹10 lakh**, from his own savings.

At one point, he saw the portfolio reach approximately **₹16 lakh**.

But after the market crash and the problems with the crypto platform, his financial position deteriorated.

Instead of accepting that the money might take time to recover, he started looking for a faster solution.

That is where leverage entered the picture.

Leverage can make relatively small price movements produce much larger gains or losses.

For an inexperienced trader, that can be extremely dangerous.

Santosh says he initially lost approximately **₹2 lakh within a week**.

That should have been the warning.

Instead, he started learning more from YouTube and Telegram groups and eventually returned to the market with even more confidence.

The ₹10 Lakh Loan
=================

One of the most important moments in the interview comes when Santosh explains why he borrowed money.

His savings were already stuck or lost.

He wanted to recover them.

He had also begun worrying about his future and career.

As a teacher, he felt that the profession was changing rapidly and that technology and AI could affect the traditional value of experienced teachers.

Instead of treating these concerns as a separate career challenge, he began viewing trading as a new skill that could solve his financial problems.

He says he eventually took a **₹10 lakh loan** and entered F&O.

That decision dramatically increased the pressure.

Now the money wasn't only his.

There was a loan to repay.

---

₹10 Lakh Lost in Just Two Months
================================

Santosh says that he lost approximately **₹10 lakh in around two months**.

He was trying to recover his earlier losses quickly.

He describes repeatedly searching for opportunities and sometimes following information from Telegram groups.

A few trades worked.

That reinforced his confidence.

But the losses eventually overwhelmed the gains.

He also says he began trading speculative assets and meme coins whose fundamentals he did not properly understand.

This is an important lesson:

**When the objective changes from investing to recovering losses quickly, risk tolerance can change dramatically.**

---

The Recovery Trap
=================

The recovery mindset sounds logical:

> "I have already lost ₹10 lakh. If I can make ₹10 lakh, everything will be fine."
>
> But markets don't work that way.
>
> A previous loss doesn't create an obligation for the market to give the money back.
>
> And when borrowed money is involved, the pressure becomes even greater.
>
> The cycle can look like this:
>
> **Loss**
>
> ↓
>
> **Need to recover**
>
> ↓
>
> **More risk**
>
> ↓
>
> **Borrowing**
>
> ↓
>
> **Larger position**
>
> ↓
>
> **Bigger loss**
>
> ↓
>
> **More desperation**
>
> This is the **trading recovery trap**.
>

>
> # Then Came the ₹17 Lakh Profit
>
> After his first major losses, Santosh took another ₹10 lakh loan.
>
> He says he had spent time learning about trading and believed he now understood what he was doing.
>
> Then something extraordinary happened.
>
> He says he turned the ₹10 lakh into approximately **₹27 lakh**, generating around **₹17 lakh in profit within a week**.
>
> For a moment, it appeared that everything had been fixed.
>
> His earlier losses seemed recoverable.
>
> His investment was recovered.
>
> Approximately ₹7 lakh remained as profit, according to his account.
>
> This is precisely where the story becomes even more important.
>
> Because a major win after a major loss can create **extreme confidence**.
>
> [[More Than ₹70 Lakhs Lost](https://sanchaykaro.com/more-than-70-lakhs-lost/)](https://sanchaykaro.com/more-than-70-lakhs-lost/)---
>
> # The ₹27 Lakh Loss in One Day
>
> Santosh says he believed the market would continue rising.
>
> He had an Ethereum position worth around **₹4 lakh**, and when the market became volatile, he added more money to reduce the liquidation risk.
>
> His objective was to survive a large market move and continue the position.
>
> But the market moved much further than he expected.
>
> He describes a sharp move that eventually wiped out the profits he had made during the previous week.
>
> The result?
>
> **Approximately ₹27 lakh lost in one day.**
>
> He says he received the notification and initially couldn't understand what had happened.
>
> The emotional impact was overwhelming.
>
> He describes feeling as if his life was over and experiencing severe difficulty breathing.
>
> He eventually went to a hospital.
>
> This wasn't simply a trading loss anymore.
>
> **The financial crisis had become a health crisis.**
>

>
> # A Teacher Who Motivated Thousands Was Breaking Inside
>
> There is a painful contrast in Santosh's story.
>
> Every day, he stood in front of students.
>
> He taught.
>
> He motivated them.
>
> He encouraged them not to give up.
>
> But behind that public image, he says he was struggling with enormous financial pressure.
>
> He could enter a classroom and behave normally.
>
> Students could see a confident teacher.
>
> They couldn't necessarily see the anxiety behind that smile.
>
> This is an important reminder:
>
> **Financial stress is not always visible.**
>
> Someone can appear completely normal while privately struggling with debt, fear and overwhelming pressure.
>
> ---
>
> # The Questions He Started Asking
>
> After the major losses, Santosh says he became desperate for answers.
>
> He searched for ways to deal with his loans and even asked questions about what would happen if he disappeared or ran away.
>
> These statements show just how serious his distress had become.
>
> The important lesson isn't the specific questions.
>
> The lesson is that **financial loss can push even highly educated and successful people into extreme emotional distress**.
>
> Debt should therefore be addressed early rather than hidden.
>
> Talking to family, trusted friends, financial professionals and appropriate mental-health professionals can be far safer than trying to solve everything alone.
>
> ---
>
> # Why Hiding Financial Problems Makes Them Worse
>
> Santosh explains another major mistake:
>
> **He didn't share his problems early enough.**
>
> He believed he could solve everything himself.
>
> This is common when people feel ashamed about financial mistakes.
>
> They think:
>
> *"I'll fix it first. Then I'll tell everyone."*
>
> But the problem can grow while they are trying to fix it privately.
>
> A ₹5 lakh problem can become ₹10 lakh.
>
> ₹10 lakh can become ₹20 lakh.
>
> And eventually, the person may feel trapped.
>
> Asking for help isn't weakness.
>
> **It can be the first step toward recovery.**
>
> ---
>
> # What This Trading Loss Story Teaches Us
>
> ### 1. Don't trade with borrowed money
>
> A loan creates a fixed financial obligation.
>
> Markets don't guarantee income.
>
> Combining debt with high-risk trading can create enormous pressure.
>
> ### 2. Don't use F&O to recover investment losses
>
> A previous loss should never be the reason to increase risk.
>
> The market doesn't know how much you lost.
>
> ### 3. Understand leverage before using it
>
> Santosh says he used 40x and 50x leverage without initially understanding how it worked.
>
> That is an enormous warning sign.
>
> ### 4. Don't blindly follow Telegram or social-media tips
>
> A successful trade based on someone else's tip doesn't prove that the strategy is reliable.
>
> ### 5. Don't confuse one big profit with permanent skill
>
> Turning ₹10 lakh into ₹27 lakh in a short period can create enormous confidence.
>
> But the same leverage can work in the opposite direction.
>
> ### 6. Never let ego control your financial decisions
>
> When the objective becomes **"I must recover my loss"**, rational decision-making can disappear.
>
> ### 7. Don't put all your financial hopes into one asset or platform
>
> Diversification, due diligence and understanding where your money is held matter.

> # Why Sanchay Karo Focuses Only on Mutual Fund Investment
>
> This story is one of the reasons **[Sanchay Karo](https://apirrabbit.com/api/v1/master/LandingPage?arn=ARN-301757 "Sanchay Karo")** takes a completely different approach.
>
> Sanchay Karo is built around one simple idea:
>
> ### **Save. Invest. Stay Consistent. Grow.**
>
> The focus is **only on mutual fund investment**, rather than encouraging people to chase quick profits through F&O, leverage or speculative trading.
>
> The objective is to make investing a long-term financial habit.
>
> Instead of asking:
>
> **"How much can I make this week?"**
>
> Sanchay Karo encourages investors to think:
>
> **"How can I consistently invest for my long-term financial goals?"**
>
> That means focusing on:
>
> - **Mutual fund investing**
> - **Regular SIPs**
> - Long-term wealth creation
> - Consistency
> - Diversification
> - Goal-based investing
> - Investing within your means
> - Avoiding unnecessary leverage
> - Avoiding loss-chasing
> - Building financial discipline
> ![sanchay karo feature graphic](https://sanchaykaro.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/sanchay-karo-feature-graphic_1.jpg.jpeg)sanchay karo feature graphicA mutual fund investment is **not guaranteed to make money**. Mutual funds are market-linked and carry investment risk.
>
> The difference is the mindset.
>
> **Trading often asks you to predict the next move.**
>
> **Long-term investing asks you to build a habit.**
>
> Sanchay Karo is focused on the second approach.
>

> # The Bigger Lesson: You Don't Have to Recover Everything Quickly
>
> One of the strongest lessons from Santosh's story is this:
>
> **You don't have to recover your financial loss tomorrow.**
>
> If you lose money, your first responsibility is not to win it back immediately.
>
> Your first responsibility is to **stop the damage**.
>
> Then:
>
>
> 1. Understand your total debt.
> 2. Stop taking unnecessary financial risks.
> 3. Create a repayment plan.
> 4. Rebuild your income.
> 5. Reduce expenses where possible.
> 6. Ask for help.
> 7. Restart investing only when your financial situation allows it.
> Recovery is a process.
>
> It doesn't need to happen in one trade.
>

> # From Teaching Students to Learning a Life Lesson
>
> Santosh spent years telling students:
>
> **Never give up.**
>
> His own story shows what that message can mean outside a classroom.
>
> Giving up on risky trading doesn't mean giving up on life.
>
> Accepting a financial loss doesn't mean accepting financial failure forever.
>
> Stopping a losing strategy can be the beginning of rebuilding.
>
> The most important investment isn't a trade.
>
> It isn't an option.
>
> It isn't a cryptocurrency.
>
> **It is your ability to protect your financial future.**
>
> That is why Sanchay Karo believes in a simpler philosophy:
>
> ### **Don't chase quick money. Build wealth consistently.**
