What is CAMS and what does it do? + CAMS (Computer Age Management Services) is one of India's largest Registrar and Transfer Agents, handling investor record-keeping for a large share of mutual fund houses. It processes folio updates, nomination, KYC, tax statements, and other service requests on behalf of the AMCs (fund houses) that use it. What is KFintech and how is it different from CAMS? + KFintech (formerly Karvy Fintech) is the other major RTA in India, performing the same role as CAMS — folio servicing, KYC, nomination, and statement generation — but for a different set of fund houses. Which portal you use depends entirely on which RTA your specific mutual fund scheme is registered with. How do I know whether my mutual fund is serviced by CAMS or KFintech? + Check your Consolidated Account Statement (CAS), folio statement, or the scheme information document — the RTA name is usually printed there. You can also try your PAN on either the CAMS or KFintech investor portal; if your folios exist with that RTA, they will show up after verification. Can I update KYC, nomination, or PAN details online, or do I need a physical form? + Most routine updates — nomination opt-in/opt-out, email and mobile number changes, FATCA, and PAN updation — can be done online through the CAMS or KFintech investor portal. Some requests, like certain nomination changes, still offer a downloadable physical form if you prefer a signed, mailed submission. What is a Consolidated Account Statement (CAS) and where do I get it? + A CAS is a single statement showing all your mutual fund holdings across fund houses, linked to your PAN. You can generate it directly from the CAMS or KFintech statements section, regardless of how many AMCs you've invested with, as long as those AMCs are serviced by that RTA. Why do I need to check both KYC validation portals (CVL, NDML, CAMS, KARVY)? + KYC records in India are maintained across multiple KRAs (KYC Registration Agencies) — CVL, NDML, CAMS, and KARVY/Dotex.
